A man shot dead in a tanning salon allegedly owed nearly a million dollars to a professional gambler on trial for assaulting two of his friends, an Ottawa court heard Thursday. Jeffrey Latimer testified that Graham Thomas and a Toronto-area man took $980,000 cash from him after he invested the money with them in March 2008.
