A group of former employees is claiming an Ottawa computer supply and repair company that has temporarily closed their stores owes them money.
PC Cyber posted a sign outside of its store on Rideau Street saying its stores have been closed due to “temporary business reorganization.” The company’s website says it has stores on Rideau Street, Hunt Club Road and in Bells Corners.
Former employee Matt Vincent said the company owes him around $2,600 severance, overtime and vacation pay. The store let him go on Friday Nov. 18 after he had worked at the Rideau location for about a year, he said.
Calls to the company, including the number posted on the sign, were forwarded to an answering machine and not returned.
At least two other employees claim they are owed money as well. The three went to the store to ask for a legal documentation of their termination but management did not provide it and they were told to call the company’s lawyer, said Vincent.
“The sad part about all this is ... we just came there with one simple request which was ‘just pay us what’s owed to us’,” he said.
The Rideau Street location was open as recently as Sunday, said Alex Forget, another employee who said he’s owed money.
Calls to the lawyer the company told employees to contact were not returned.
