Eight charged after Gatineau raid nets drugs, weapons

Eight people in their early 20s — six men and two women, all from Gatineau — are facing drug and weapons charges after a street gang bust in the Mont Bleu neighbourhood early Saturday morning. At about 1:30 a.m., Gatineau police raided apartment No. 1 at 40 Rue Daniel Johnson, near Autoroute 5. Officers seized three bottles of pepper spray, a .32-calibre firearm and two rifles, ammunition, 10 grams of crack cocaine, 50 grams of marijuana and 23 ecstasy pills as well as $3,000 in cash, equipment used to make and sell drugs, and “many” stolen goods, said Gatineau police spokesman Pierre Lanthier.
