请教一个租房付Utilities的问题

儿子这个学期sublease了一个房间。这个房子原来是5个人合租的。结果儿子搬进去才发现,这个房子只有他和另外一个人住,别人都搬走了。现在的问题是,Utilities的费用很高,1月份竟然有$1000, 2-4月每个月 $300多。儿子每个月的房租才$425。当初说的是Utilities大家share费用。问大概的费用,说只有50多。现在,另外一个人被自动扣钱,已经付了所有费用。他让我儿子付一半给他。

儿子第一次租房,没经验。想问下大家:我儿子有责任付一半的Utilities吗?

刚查了一下儿子的sublease,里面只提到了每月付425的房租。但有下面的条款:

The Sub-tenant and Tenant agree that all the terms and conditions existing in the

aforementioned Tenant/Landlord Agreement shall govern the relationship between the

Tenant and the Sub-tenant, and

c) The Tenant and the Sub-tenant agree that the Sub-tenant shall be bound by all of the

terms and conditions in the aforementioned Tenant/Landlord Agreement.

在原来的租房协议里,是这样的:

Each Tenant agrees to pay the Landlord on a monthly basis his/her share of the rate of $ 2,125.00 per month

($425 per month represents an equal share among five tenants). Each Tenant is fully responsible that the

the tenants to maintain five tenants (maximum) throughout the lease or re-arrange shared payment of the

关键是一月份那个1000是你孩子和另一个一起用的吗?要是的话,当然要平分了。

你娃用多少付多少,1月7号以后的自己住的那几个月算出来啊.

因为电费和煤气只是两个人在用, 道理上应该是两个人分

按说五房间的合同, 走了三人, 那三人如没找人sublet的话应接着付房租, 还应付与房间有关的.bill (如heating).
你儿子如只接了一个房间的sublet, 应只付一个房间的费用.

灰色地带是暖气。水和电至少应该均分。
如果暖气是由电产生的,是不是账单上有分开记录?如果有的话,可以和房东商量两个人平摊5分之3左右的费用。

这个说的是房租,没有问题。楼主恰好把utilities部分丢掉了。不过按照常识,应该是均分,尤其是水和电。

这是个老房子,用的电暖。儿子的sublease只提到每月付425租金。utilities是在原来租客的lease里,是这样写的:
Shared cost of utilities that include: water, water softener, heating, electricity, telephone, cable TV and internet, are the joint responsibilities of the Tenants
 
像这种本来5人合租,别人都搬走了,如果只剩一个人住,要一个人负担整个房子的取暖吗?
