I don't think 苦笑 is sneering. There is a subtle difference. I don't think her behaviour is mean.

Wry smile here is mean too ! As I said, be nice. Don't always assume people are rude or without manner - especially this is an old couple in a strange land to them !

If you really want to help, you can say something like "Old people always get in front in some countries".

引申一下，在Loblaws或Farmboy这些地方海货或熟食柜台那里，一般都是取号码排队，在没有号码的时候售货员一般都问一下该谁了，然后顾客一般都自动按来的先后顺序来买货。再看看炸药店，本人几乎每次在海鲜柜台都被加塞！:flaming:

孩子们还是应该提醒自己的老人，注意为好，慢慢地也就改过来了。

顺便说说每次往返中国登机吧。那个场面，白人看我们那个眼神和面部表情，真让我感到很尴尬。那可不都是上了年纪的人吧？恕我直言，相当多的年轻人也没有比老人优秀到哪里去。

I never felt that way. If you want to do business with Chinese, do it Chinese way !

在国内，人多的时候你不往上挤能行么？我记的上学时，每年正月十六上火车，那挤的架势都吓人。老人多年的习惯是很正常的。

没办法的情况和现在这情况还是有很大区别的.
在没办法的情况下你没有选择,现在这情况,有点素质的不会那么干.

人家老人先上个车，你要怎么helping他们？把他们拉下来让他们去排队？还是上去以后告诉他们下次要排队啊？他们上去就上去了呗，别动不动就要帮人家，先考虑一下人家需不需要行吗？
