Carney to head Bank of England by 2013!

Accurate. But the banking system had been robust thanks to Paul Martin who regulated the banks from high exposures to bubbled financial direvative markets as the Finance Minister.

:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

Paul Martin regulated the banks, while the U.S didn't...thanks to Bush's political ideology which is similar to the current administration in Canada.

So, why the heck people elected the current government??? that's beyond my comprehension.

or maybe he is James Bond: "Canada is safe for now, I gotta go save other countries ":D

it

A good question.

IMHO, People the heck elected the current GOV. because that the majority voters are short-sighted and easy to be misled by scandal news, political propaganda of "tax cut", "budget cut", fiscal balance". Most of them hardly know anything about business cycle and care about short-term interests.

Within 2 years of the past election, they will realize sth going wrong:

pension age postponed up to 67, meaning that 15 years left, for a typical Canadian, to enjoy pension calculated based on the CA average age of 81;

tax cut effecitive immidiately for big corporations, but personals have to wait until fiscal balance;

fiscal balance, was planned to be achieved by 2015, yet a recent announcement by DoF suggests a one-year delay of this goal being achieved as global demand is weak;

...meaning working adults have to wait another year for their desired income tax benefit in 2016... well, 2016 will be another election year;

let alone to cut public expenditure during a fragile recovery is purely a harsh decision.

In short, the current administration

it

...both red necks. both like to deal with oil.

the second day after Steve H. commented Calgary the "greatest Canadian city", four horses were run over to death during their red neck/cowboy festival (dont remember the name), meaning creature lives worthless as compared with prosperities brought by the environmentally-controversial Oil Sand.

What a bloody joke!

salas88, look at this: "senior deputy governor Tiff Macklem is considered a leading contender..." (from today's globe and mail)

What a coincidence! I didn't even know Tiff could be a first name. :D:D:D

Born in Montréal, Quebec, Mr. Macklem graduated from Queen's University in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in economics, and completed a master's degree and a PhD in economics from the University of Western Ontario.
