请教,这个idiom是啥意思?

你这个,还真就是瞎说。那个棉衣品牌是Canada Goose而不是Canada Geese。:tx:

这几个是例外(Exceptions),英语中就这么用。严格说,只有两个例外:
  • sports club, sports clubs
  • accounts department, accounts departments

41楼给了你2个例子。另外,custom,习俗;customs, 海关
你那个canada geese是两码事。如果那个游戏本身就是要chasing 多只鹅呢?说成 geese chase 就比 goose chase更准确。
还是来看这个比较可靠的
Teachers unions
  • Girls hockey
  • Nurses station

类似于Nurses station, 我们不说 buses station, 而是说bus station,所以我感觉这种事就是习惯。而在特定的情况下,完全可以自由地用复数形式,比如那个 geese chase
我成不了。我是要打破村长家的砂锅,所以村长夫人第一个不同意我成助理。:D
你有希望成为村长助理。

你是看一不看二啊。

同一页,回答了你很多问题:

Unfortunately, there is no clear answer. There is a tendency for nouns that refer to people – teachers, girls, actors, and superheroes! – to be plural when they act as adjectives. However, this is a tendency, not a rule, and you will find exceptions:

  • Mother’s Day (not “Mothers Day”)
  • Student council (not “Students Council”)
There is also a general tendency for nouns that are usually plural to remain in the plural form when acting as adjectives, as in these examples:

  • Sports medicine (The plural noun, sports, is more common than the singular noun, sport.)
  • Media frenzy (Media is plural. The singular form, medium, is rarely used.)
Again, there are probably exceptions. And while nouns that refer to animals are usually singular when acting as adjectives (goose liver, dog food, rat race), sometimes the plural is the preferred form (calves liver).

And while nouns that refer to animals are usually singular when acting as adjectives (goose liver, dog food, rat race), sometimes the plural is the preferred form (calves liver).

And it was you who first started it.

我对那个名词复数做形容词的说法表示怀疑。

借题问一下:为什么不叫wild geese chase? 还有这个的复数形式是什么 three years olds or three years old's?

最后编辑:
teachers union, girls hockey那几个,感觉那个s最初是's,后来用着用着就省掉了,就象tim hortons。
为什么这几个名词后面加撇,别的不加,恐怕除了词性等结构上的原因,还有意思上的,究竟怎么不同,也说不出。试试看啊,bus station是停车站,如果是buses station,就成了放bus 的地方。
