Can't believe he chose to stay in Toronto instead of going back to China after he killed the girl. This guy has neither heart nor brain! What a shame for his parents who must have been put so many hopeness on him!
If it is true, that is not amazing and unbelievable result as people guess at the beginning of this case. Maybe there are some conflicts between the hosts and the tenant. However, the murdered poor girl should not be involved in the conflict. My soul is exceeding sorrowful for the poor girl, the cold-blooded student, chinese abroad, and for more one butt on chinese to the gossip of the westerns.

Maybe he knows in Canada, even he is caught and convicted, a murderer need only stay in prison for < 10 years. (well only if the court thinks he is a real monster, which he does not look so, then he loses his chance for parole, but there are less than dozen ppl in entire country is in this case right now)
I think he felt safer here.... Return to China? If caught, he is almost ensured of a bullet in back of his head and fast-lane process too (v.s. at least 2-3 years if he pleads not guilty and appeals all the way to the top with public legal aide money).
Now, some ppl will say he will get deported. Ture, usually Canada will deport him the first chance Canada gets (Why we want to waste our tax money for this garbage in the first place?), but (1) Canada will ensure he does not get sentenced to die in China (2) China has no history of prosecuting a national that kill "a foreigner
" in another country. (to be fair, accroding to international law, China does not need to, because it is dealt with. It is the classic "double-jeopardy" i.e. you dont get punished twice for the same crime)So my prediction: This prick will be roaming in street of Shanghai in a decade. Now think what Ceci's parents will end up in a decade. How sad ...
