RAW的文件差不多8M, 转成jpg是4M多,如果用95%的quality再存一次,就不到2M了,在17"的屏幕上看不出差别

Are you sure this is right?

Assume from RAW to JPEG is no-loss compression (including colors), it can save 50% storge?

And for 95% of the quality (loss compression) can save another 50% for all kinds of photos?

And for 95% of the quality (loss compression) can save another 50% for all kinds of photos?

That's what I have done.
95%后文件的大小,不仅是和percentage有关系,其它一些因素,像componet sampling,progressive mode,是否用优化霍夫曼编码都会影响到最后文件的质量和大小

Assume in your RAW format (different company has it own raw format,I guess, more like bmp), for true color (RGB = 24bits = 3 bytes) pictures, each pixel is saved as a "WORD" (4 bytes, it is normally done this way if my assumption is not wrong). So when doing pixel to pixel converting, at least one byte is redundant (so from raw to jpeg, at least it can save 25%), but how come it can save 50%? JPEG is lossy-compression, so is PS's maximum fine (12) quality still losing some information?

I am just curious actually. I did this JPEG thing 13 or 14 yrs ago back in China...just want to refresh it a bit

One picture or even one type of pictures (e.g.some photos' detail are less than the other, so easy to compress) doesnot count..Hoffman encoding or runlenght encoding is lossless encoding, has such big effect?

95%一半size这个肯定不是放之放之四海皆准的,应该是和具体的图像文件有关.
