My friend always asks me update my skiing experience because he lives in hot sunny Singapore. I guess my skiing story can always gives him a fantasy of being exposed himself in the icy cold mountain such as Jaypeak. Unfortunately, my friends miss the point. He does not know when I go skiing, the icy snow runs always set my blood afire and the feeling is hot.
If you have ever seen the documentary “Ski Bum”, you know skiing is not a game. It is a way of life. Ski Bums are bunch of people going crazy about skiing so that they would live on the most basic means in order to just support them for one thing in life. That is skiing.
Even though I never experience that kind of high from skiing as described by bums, Jaypeak absolutely gave me the ultimate pleasure of what is called being at vertical 3000. And the finest moment was not from either the sunny Saturday morning or the absolute gorgeous Sunday, especially when the sun dotted Jay with colorful mosaic.
The most thrilling moment was Saturday afternoon when I took the last tram reaching the peak and waited all others disappeared. You started the absolute lonely run with pouring freezing rain as your only companion. The foggy run opening a gigantic white mouth to me and looked like it kept saying “come to me, come to me”. The scene was like I was in the stage of the Phantom of Opera when Phantom luring Christine to her father’s tomb.
To be honest, the situation was not very sexy but it was really fine life experience where you see true yourself. I wish I had a son so that I would definitely take him to this kind of scenario again. It was not I want to risk our life for nothing. It is the character I want to build into my son’s blood. The spirit of going beyond your personal limits and strike harder each time when you try something is what really enthrall me that moment. It was like in the twilight zone. You only live in that moment. There is no past and future, like my favorite song from Rent “No day but today”.
When I came down, the light was on and the party started with plenty of nice food, friends, music and (very important) wine. You talk and joke with the flow. You sing and dance as you go. If you still not warm enough, there were that 20 plus blondy bikini hot gals in the tiny Sauna room all with perfect bodies. Boy, I could not believe that was real. It was like I was in the ice age a couple minute ago but now I was flooded with sensational flesh.
I enjoy the trip so much because, in a nutshell, you experience all elements of life, the ups and downs of weather, tumbles in bumps and mogul, warm fellowship of skiing club, pretty ladies and wine. You know real life would be harsh and tougher but the journey like this keeps you balanced and healed.
