some thoughts

My friend always asks me update my skiing experience because he lives in hot sunny Singapore. I guess my skiing stories can always gives him a fantasy of being exposed himself in the icy cold mountain such as Jaypeak. Unfortunately, my friends miss the point. He does not know when I go skiing, the icy snow runs always set my blood afire and the feeling is hot.

If you have ever seen the documentary “Ski Bum”, you know skiing is not a game. It is a way of life. Ski Bums are bunch of people going crazy about skiing so that they would live on the most basic means in order to support them just for one thing in life-SKIING.

Even though I never experience that kind of high from skiing as described by bums, Jaypeak absolutely gave me the ultimate pleasure of what is called being at vertical 3000. The strange thing is the finest moment was neither from the sunny Saturday morning nor the gorgeous Sunday, especially when the sun dotted Jay with colorful mosaic.

The most thrilling moment was Saturday afternoon when I took the last tram reaching the peak and waited all others disappeared. You started the absolute lonely run with pouring freezing rain as your only companion. The foggy run opening a gigantic white mouth to me and looked like it kept saying “come to me, come to me”. The scene was like I was in the stage of the Phantom of Opera when Phantom luring Christine to her father’s tomb.

To be honest, the situation was not very sexy but it was really fine life experience where you see true yourself. I wish I had a son so that I would definitely take him to this kind of scenario again. It was not I want to risk our life for nothing. It is the character I want to build into my son’s blood. The spirit of going beyond your personal limits and strike harder each time when you try something is what really enthralls me that moment. It was like in the twilight zone. You only live in that moment. There is no past and future, like my favorite song from Rent “No day but today”.

When I came down, the light was on and the party started with plenty of nice food, friends, music and, of course, wine. You talk and joke with the flow. You sing and dance as you go. If you still not warm enough, there were those 20 plus blondy bikini hot gals in the tiny Sauna room all with perfect bodies. Boy, I could not believe that was real. It was like I was in the ice age a couple minutes ago but now I was flooded with sensational flesh.

I enjoy the trip so much because, in a nutshell, you experience all elements of life, the ups and downs of weather, tumbles in bumps and mogul, warm fellowship of skiing club, pretty ladies and wine. You know real life would be harsh and tougher but the journey like this keeps you balanced and healed.

I want to show my deep appreciation to the organizers of this event, especially thanks to tian bo and qu shan.

Re: some thoughts

My high point came from the first run on Sunday morning, old rock retired from the leading pack and I was to explore the unknown for the team. Standing on the eastern edge of the hill, we were treated with an absolute stunning view. Hill top trees coated in white, surrounding hills spread out far to the east, green farm land behind the hill lines, and miles away, I can see other peaks... Smuggler's Notch? Kilington? Inturrputed by a small mumble, I was brought back to reality. My two little wings, April and CC are eager to move, we started our decent. Feeling the genuine rush of speed, carving across the white powder, we are now part of the mountain, part of this stunning nature, who would've thought we were outsiders only moments ago. This is my sanctuary, thanks to tianbo,qu shan, old rock and lao li.

1) OLD ROCK, SPONGE 和JS 前后照应滑雪小分队, 让落后分子也能麻着胆子上了机关重重的BLACK;
2) LAO九司机的专业CAR POOL; VIVIAN 的专业酸菜鱼,创下一分钟内一扫空的记录; (本人反应比较慢, 没吃上)
3) GAO FAN 绝佳的调酒技术和让人捧腹的JOKES;
4) CHEN JIANG 夫妇 和 ZHI HUA 夫妇热心为大家服务的精神;

if we are connected by this piece of article,

you own this memoir as well. The feeling of skiing is free and that is why the words here has no agent. it is part of the reward we can keep for ourself as our most precious life experience. No one can take it from us.

Oh...........I can totally related to it.

I highly recommend the movie Point Break. even though it is about surfing but the feelings are similar. My favourite line: "it's where you lost yourself and find yourself". So philosophical and true.
