The best way to find apartments near school is to go to the neighborhood and experience yourself, this way you can see if the surroundings fit you and your children. Also, rental places usually put up street signs, so you can find them easily. Here are school addresses:

Katimavik: 64 Chimo Dr. (close to intersection of Kakulu and Pickford) http://www1.ocdsb.edu.on.ca/katiweb/

École Kanata: 1385 Halton Terrasse (in Morgan's Grant)
http://www.kanata.cepeo.on.ca

Earl of March: 4 The Parkway (in Beaverbrook)

Thank you very much Marklin. Your information is very helpful.

How to find school age childcare

Thanks for everybody who replied my post.

I tried to contact with the Katimavik school that Marklin mentioned. But my son doesn't know any French and he's in 4th grade. We are moving from the US. So I have to find schools with regular English program for Grade 4 kids.
Could you suggested good schools with regular English program?

Also i called some schools, they told me the schools in Kanata don't have before and after school child care. Where do I find babysitters or childcare centers that can take care my child before and after school and can drop and pick up my son. I have to work 8am to 5pm and it doesn't fit the school time at all.

Please help.

Thanks a lot.

You can try this school then, located in Beaverbrook, they have late french immersion program that doesn't start until grade 7:

http://www1.ocdsb.edu.on.ca/sleaweb/index.html

You can also ask them about before and after school program, as I am sure the majority of the kids will need that. Or you can try checking out the information at this centralized daycare waiting list:

http://www.afchildcare.on.ca/

Hope this helps..

Can children in Katimavik study in Earl of March? Thanks.

Re: How to find school age childcare

Your son can study in the Middle French Immersion Program in Katimavik school. This program starts from Grade 4.

For the after school program, you can call 613-580-2424 ext.33304 for registration. They locate in Glen Cairn C.C, Bridlewood C.C, Roch Carrier E.S.

Thank you everybody for your reply. I called both Katimavik school and Stephen Leacock PS, they said their Middle French Immersion classes use 70-80% French for teaching. They don't accept my son because he doesn't know French at all.
I checked the school report cards and found out that for the school with regular English program, W. Erskine Johnston PS is a better one. Does anyone know if it's a good school? And how can I find before/after school program in that area?

Thanks a lot.

Yes. The Earl of March's students come from Katimavik, Kanata Lake/Heritage Hill and Beaverbrook areas.

The Middle French Immersion is for kids who speak English to learn French just from Grade 4. All the kids in this program just learn French one term (September - now) earlier than your son. If you really want your son to study in this program, you can talk with the school and tell them your son will catch up with them soon.

For the regular English school, W. Erskine Johnston P.S. and W.O. Mitchell Elementary School are little better than others in Kanata area.

Katimavik E.S is a French Immersion School. All the students are taught in French at least 50% of their day.

If your son want to attend this school now, he need go to the Early French Immersion classes. It is a little hard for him since the others already have studied in 100% French for one and half years. You also could let Your son study in regular English school to Grade 3, then go to the MFI of Katimavik E.S. in Grade 4.

Please check the information from the web address: http://www.ocdsb.edu.on.ca/profiles/2005_2006/KATI.pdf

The following information came from the Katimavik E.S.'s profile:

Katimavik offers a kindergarten to grade 8 Early French Immersion program, a grade 4 to 8 Middle French Immersion program, and a grade 7 and 8 Late French Immersion program. An English junior kindergarten program is also offered. The children are taught in French 100% of the time in senior kindergarten and grade 1. With the introduction of English in grade 2, the French portion drops to 80% and is gradually reduced to about 50% from grade 5 onwards. In grade 4 MFI the students are taught in French for 75 - 80% of their day. In grades 5, 6, 7 and 8, math is taught in English to the EFI students. Although French is the language of instruction in 100 - 50% of their day, the children study the same curriculum ontent as their peers in the regular English program.
