小肥羊的壽命!

what are you talking about. costumers are god under circustances, and those circumstances includes when you are being called over. waving your hand is quite a normal gesture and infact you see it alot and canadians DO do these gestures.
from my experiences. it's not really bad decoration. i don't really see what do you mean by "bad" decorations for one. and the bathrooms are relatively clean compared to say oh gee i dont know, somewhere like yangtze?. Good service is not measured by them walking around. Good service is when the waiter/waitress doesnt give you attitude no matter where you are from aka none racist. Good service is when you tell the waiter/waitress what to do for you instead of him/her telling you what she can do for you. They are quite attentive for such a busy shop if you've been there. Besides, it's a hotpot/buffet. buffets are like that. the waiter/waitress walk around to bring you water, take the used plates away at most. if you think that they should somehow understand you telepathicly, that's fine also. just to tell you though.. go back to mars.

I knew most of the people here will not understand due to culture difference, so here's something for you to think about.

How to Summon a Waiter Politely

  1. Raise your hand, but don't wave. Most waiters are very busy but will get to you eventually. Be patient if the restaurant is packed. The waiter might have many tables to help besides yours.
  2. Talk to your waiter with respect. Control your tone and attitude, a bossy or condescending way of speaking is not needed. Never yell or snap your fingers to get attention.
  3. Make eye contact with the waiter.
  4. Try to always remain polite. If your waiter is ignoring you, be patient, he or she may be busy and stressed out with too much work.
  5. Remember that if the food is cool or does not taste good that the waiter is not responsible.
  6. Avoid behaviors that will make your waiter want to pull out his or her hair and give you slow service.
    • Changing your mind over dishes after they have been ordered
    • Telling your waiter it is time to order than make them stand there for 10 minutes because you really have not decided what you want.
    • Drinking too much alcohol
    • Harassing other wait staff/customers
    • Asking them out on a date
    • Talking about your waiter even if he or she is standing right there.
    • Ask for separate checks after the waiter bring you the bill or order dessert after the waiter brings the bill
    • Asking the waiter to come back over and over again to take your order.
  7. Grabbing any waiter by the elbow to get service is a big no no. Don't ever touch your waiter!
  8. Practice good manners when the waiter does arrive at your table and you are with a large party, do not ignore him or her. Very rude.

Ur points are all correct, but they didnt do like this ,

Could it be the attitude of the waiter is a mirror image of your own attitude?

I'm a Chinese and I feel I always been treated very well at Yangtze. Oh I also don't speak any Cantonese.

Anyway, we are a little off topic here. What I want to say is 小肥羊's staff can really use some polish, the only reason I'm saying that is I want to see the restaurant to succeed.

I am curious have you ever been to 小肥羊? judge by your words, you surely knows 小肥羊 a lot eh.

:wotu:泼水了:D

这样泼得火烧我头上加重灾情我不干。:D

曾经有一次出去吃东西, 最后要给朋友带点回去, 结果汤不好带。
某提议, 一人含一口回去, 还保温了。

yes, I been tthere 5 times already, I like the food, but like I said, they need to improve on the service if they want more Canadian customers.

I did a bit of search and here is a review from a non-Chinese customer.

If you like good service, good food, cleanliness and hygiene, Mongolian Hot Pot on Bank is not the place for you. While the kinks associated with a new restaurant have to be sorted out, there are a number of things to be aware. Parking has never been a strong point of this location and this has not changed.

The cooking hot plate in the middle of the table is very high tech and worked fairly well. The thick film of grease and food from the previous diners was decidedly low tech and a little disconcerting as was the lack of individual food tongs on the pseudo buffet featuring 60 soup items. The danger of cross contamination between the chicken, pork, fish/seafood and vegetables is high as there were far too few tongs to accommodate the safe handling of raw foods. The stock broth was tasty and meal picks up some steam once you get over having to reuse the same plates for raw and cooked food.

The servers are pleasant but do not provide much in the way of instruction on how to enjoy Hot Pot dining. Also do not watch the resupply of the buffet or drink fountains as it will be a little off-putting to watch how the food is handled.

Paying for the meal is a bit of an adventure. Unfortunately our bill was incorrect as they somehow counted the 4 adults and 3 children as 9 people. It took us roughly 15 minutes to get this sorted out in the line-up to pay the bill. It is an adventure but one we are not likely to chance again any time soon

like I said the concept is good, and most of the problem can be solved by good management!

我是说啊,
说这话的人是真有。 当然没真做, 原因当然是不可能一路上不说话。

I am curious have you ever been to 小肥羊? judge by your words, you surely knows 小肥羊 a lot eh.

I don't even know where to start!
First of all, I was really excited about this place, since I am in love with Chinese hot pot...
I went there on a Wednesday night, it was not busy at all, maybe 4 groups of people and that's it. You would assume the customer service would be much faster and they would be nicer since there are not many people there they have to deal with.
The girl at the reception was really rude (I don't know if she was in a bad mood or something), she gave us only one menu... Another guy server seated us. Didn't talk much, just kinda smiled and we followed him to our table. He didn't bother explaining to us how the "system" works. So we took a look at our menus (we got up and asked for another one since the server wasn't coming back to our table)... We decided what we wanted, and waited for good 25 minutes for someone to come over and serve us (as in, ask us what kind of soup we wanted for the hot pot and so on). Nobody came for another 15 minutes, so we just got up to get our veggies, meat and fish... There was no beef or lamb there, so we just got veggies and fish...
This is where i freaked out because the utensils were mixed up (I assume the people just kinda left it anywhere after they were done getting their food).
We went back to our table, and waited. For another 15 minutes. Finally the server came to us!!! We all got our individual pots half spicy/half veggie, I think! We asked if there was more beef and lamb coming up, and he actually came back with two plates full of meat!
We had all our pots and food ready, but there was no utensils!!! So we waited again for him to come back. He passed by a few times and never looked at us, even when we were trying to get his attention. So I got up to chase him down (yeah it's sad, I was following him around to ask for utensils). He only gave us one pair of chopsticks! I freaked out again, because I didn't want to handle the raw food with the same chopsticks. Because he just kinda came back and dropped it on the table (he forgot napkins, of course) and ran away again, I didn't have a chance to ask for an extra pair of chopsticks. Sooooo, I went on a chase again :( Finally we were set and we can enjoy our food.
In the meantime, while I was trying to chase down the server, Our pots started over boiling, and when we tried to lower the temperature, the "button" fell off!!! Luckily he was passing by and we screamed "excuse me!!!" (because we had to, otherwise he wouldn't turn around... I felt bad, but oh well...) He fixed it and just laughed. No sorry no nothing... Anyway...
I didn't find the food to be fresh, the pots were kinda dirty (I guess they didn't wash them correctly), I was freaking out the whole time and had a funny feeling in my stomach, but didn't want to be a party pooper so I just went with the flow :(
They didn't have a big variety of sauces either, everything tasted so... weird! We couldn't even finish all our food, and that's when we saw a sign saying: if you leave food behind, over 200g, they charge you extra one person! LOL so we dunked everything in the hot pot and asked for a cheque!
That was another story... we had to wait for the server another 30 minutes!!! In the meantime, I had a weird taste in my mouth so I figured why not try their sweets... it tasted like plastic! At THIS point I am feeling really sick, and running to the bathroom (I threw up, sorry)!
We couldn't wait for the server anymore to bring us the cheque, so we just walked up to the reception. There she was again, the moody girl! She was talking SO FAST we couldn't understand one word she said. Apparently they didn't accept debit, cash or credit only. There was a ATM machine there too. We finally left.
We all got sick! We had high fever and vomited all night... sorry to bring it up, but that's what happened. Food poisoning the doctor said :D
yeah.... definitely not going back!
Good luck to the rest of you!
