想买个GPS，大家有那个牌子型号可推荐呢？

I recommend Garmin 255W. It has every basic features you would need.

到美國之前，买了个Tomtom XL320 （170+tax）。结果在美国两次给我搞砸了。

1. 在Illinois的Peoria, 找中餐馆结果把我领到路的另一边。
2. 到了朋友家附近，Mapping错了！而且我死活调不出他家的house #. 更要命的是我的print-out和laptop都在旅馆里（不紧张，也就是15分钟的车程），我的手机里也没有他家的号码！我费了好大劲才在他家附近一个音乐站上网后找到他家的号码。从此，我把地址输入成：朋友名-house#@phone#.

前几天到Montreal,要去的地方又给mapping错了！

不过，这玩意在highway很管用。告诉怎么走。去Montreal目的地的路上是七拐八转，没有错。只是last mile出错了。晚节不保呀！

I am not sure about other brands, but problem about Garmin is after you turn on the machine, you need to wait quite long time to get signal, normally 5 minutes at least. It may be longer in bad weather. Other than that, it is a good brand. I used it in Montreal, Toronto and Las Vegas without problem.

我的Garmin没这个毛病，马上就会有信号。
