Canadian banks offer kids to start their own bank account at around 12, I think. And a lot of school offer home economics classes to teach the kids a few tricks on cooking.
Parents should also start these training with kids as soon as possible. I remember starting to help washing dishes when I wasn't even able to reach the sink without a food stool.
