I used trust instead of believe, deliberately, because it more accurately express what I what to express, understand?

It is very weird to use "trust" instead of "believe" in your situation. "believe" is what you feel it is or it will be true, "trust" is the believe come from a relationship or position, you "trust" somebody's words because he hold a "trustworth" relationship with you.



Anyway, I will ask my friend to give you a more acurate answer.

Very commonly used. To translate "I trust you had 。。." = 你一定有。。。

而"I believe you had a great trip"是类似于 "How was your trip"，接下来我期望的TOPIC也许是你的TRIP中的一些事情。

Language always has different opinions and that's the nature of linguistics . Different people from different place may have different background, even those native English speakers may have different understanding and usages of something, that's prefectly Okay. After all, we use language as a tool to communicate, so it doesn't matter who is correct and who is wrong, as long as we understand each other.

that was why I used that word...I didn't want to hear otherwise and he won't say otherwise anyway...coz in the first paragraph, I told them not to send me any more group email, coz I wanted quit....but I tried to be nice, so I followed up with saying some niceties...
