NCC opens trails, toboggan hills

The National Capital Commission opened its two Greenbelt toboggan hills and part of its network of Gatineau Park winter trails Thursday. The hills are at Conroy Pit (on Conroy Road south of Hunt Club) and Bruce Pit (on Cedarview Road north of Hunt Club, by Bell High School). In Gatineau Park, the commission has opened a quarter of its cross-country skiing trails, about 63 kilometres worth, so far. These include the Fortune, Gatineau and Champlain parkway trails (backcountry trails are almost all still closed). Conditions on the open trails vary from "fair" to "good," the NCC says.
