Five homeless after fire in Ottawa’s south end

OTTAWA — An overnight house fire at a townhome in the south end of the city has left five people homeless — one of many incidents that kept emergency crews busy through the night. Fire crews were called to 3520 Downpatrick Rd. — close to Hunt Club Road — at around 2 a.m. Tuesday. People who called in the blaze reported seeing smoke and flames from the back of the house.
