Two adults and three teenagers were left homeless following an overnight fire in Overbrook, Ottawa Fire Services reported Sunday.
One of the residents of a basement unit in a semi-detached brick home at 413 King George St. was injured by broken glass during an effort to save the family cat. The fate of the cat was unclear.
The fire service said it received “multiple” 911 calls at 2:15 a.m. Sunday. The injured person was taken to hospital around 3:30 a.m. when a fire investigator was dispatched to the scene.
The fire’s cause was unknown but the OFS estimated damage to building and contents at $200,000.
