Tulip Festival going ‘back to its roots’

It’s not your traditional tulip festival, that’s for sure. You can, of course, still tiptoe around a million tulips over the next couple of weeks — the festival runs until May 21 — but with opening ceremonies that included a military band, buskers and a Bette Midler impersonator, the 60th annual Canadian Tulip Festival promises to blossom in a way much different from that with which Ottawans are familiar.
