OTTAWA — Some council standing committee meetings might run a bit slower into the fall as city staff and elected officials adapt to a new software system that’s being rolled out to cut paper use and save money, says the chair of council’s IT subcommittee. The city expects to save about $124,000 in annual printing costs and about 2.3 million pieces of paper a year through the new “e-agenda” tool that’s to lead to “a virtually paperless environment” and allow the public to see and have access to motions and votes that occur at meetings “in a more timely fashion,” said Councillor Tim Tierney, who chairs the subcommittee.
