If you can get a used one, from junk yard (ask your garage mechanic), maybe. Since your car is 2003 (i.e. bought in 2002), its resale value is at most 4000 (or even less, depending on mileage), it doesn't worth to fix it.

From your own pocket or claim insurance is different. Ask your garage.
Also, those jobs you want to claim insurance must be APPROVED by your insurance ADJUSTER.

She has to negotiate with her adjuster for car value, exactly like what was written above.
I think, LZ being car-owner, LZ can ask your adjuster how much is the car scarp value, LZ can buy back your car, at scarp value, then fix it yourself (which is much cheaper if that is from your own pocket, not insurance).
