West-end women’s shelter could reopen this fall

A west-end women’s shelter could reopen after a new board of directors was elected at a meeting in early August. Nelson House, a 15-bed shelter for women and children who are victims of abuse, was shut down by the previous board on May 25 because of concerns about finances and a vacant executive position. However, a new board elected at the group’s Aug. 3 annual general meeting is working to reopen the shelter in the fall.
