Cottagers fear for safety after loss of fire boat

OTTAWA — Isolated and worried cottagers on White Lake, south of Arnprior, have been told they are responsible for their own safety after a municipal fire boat was pulled from service. “The neighbours in the area, some of them are extremely upset,” since the boat was put in dry dock, says Phil Vincent, who owns a cottage on Birch Island.
