You are very lucky to have a RA! Could you tell us who is your advisor?
Now, most of the professors don't have grants, so this information is quite
important for those who has not found an advisor.

it depends on which major u r. and i think ur universities which u graduate is also important. here more professors r familiar with chinese university. they even can tell u several most famous universities. and i got RA last year, this year it is more difficult to get i guess.

Yes, I agree with you. They are quite familiar with the ranking of Chinese
Universities. For example, the admission requirement of GPA is 85 for ECE, but
for students from top 10, it can be 80. But RA does depend on whether your
advisor has funds or not. That is why most of students in ECE don't receive RA.
Remember, this is Canada, a poor country. The donates from private resources
are very limited. The financial aids you can receive won't exceed 17.000 per
year, no matter you got scholarship, RA or TA. You won't starve but you can't
be rich either. This is Canada.
