Rideau Carleton Raceway site not guaranteed to make casino shortlist: OLG

OTTAWA — The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. won’t guarantee that the Rideau Carleton Raceway will be placed automatically on any potential shortlist of casino proposals, despite a motion to that effect that Mayor Jim Watson and Councillor Doug Thompson plan to table at Tuesday night’s finance committee meeting. On Monday, the mayor sent his council colleagues a note asking that they consider voting in favour of asking the OLG to provide “an opportunity for the (Raceway) to be pre-qualified to take part in the final bidding process, given their strong record of success in the Ottawa region.”
