Ottawa’s Catholic teachers decry union’s ‘illegitimate’ deal with provincial governme

OTTAWA — Ottawa’s Catholic teachers turned out Wednesday evening to denounce union leaders for betraying their interests in negotiating an “illegitimate” contract agreement with the provincial government. “From the moment you agreed to this memorandum of agreement it was an illegitimate agreement,” said one of the more than 700 teachers, members of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association, who showed up at an information sensation to question union president Kevin O’Dwyer regarding the deal.
