Branch expansion, new technology part of draft public library budget

OTTAWA — The Ottawa Public Library would fast-track the renewal and expansion of its Emerald Plaza branch under a draft 2013 budget that also includes an increase of about $1.4 million in operational spending. The proposed budget would also see the radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology system replace current bar-code technology at the branch, in a shopping mall at 1547 Merivale Rd., north of Meadowlands Drive, as well as two others: Alta Vista and Nepean Centrepointe.
