OTTAWA — While councillors and top city bureaucrats have to make sure their dealings with lobbyists get recorded in the city’s new lobbying registry, they have no responsibility to make sure those dealings are recorded correctly. The seven-week-old registry is supposed to track outsiders’ attempts to influence city decisions. But with little formal oversight from the new office of the integrity commissioner, the registry’s effectiveness relies largely on lobbyists’ goodwill.
