Documentaries on Oscar shortlist screening in Ottawa

Two of the films on the shortlist for a best-documentary Oscar are now showing in Ottawa theatres. The climate-change study Chasing Ice opens at the ByTowne Cinema Dec. 7 and runs to Dec. 12. It documents stunning changs to the world’s glaciers. Watch for Jay Stone’s review in the movie section of the website on Dec. 7. The music portrait Searching for Sugar Man, which traces the fate of acclaimed but obscure 1970s singer-songwriter Rodriguez, runs at the Mayfair Theatre on Bank Street Dec. 7-9 and Dec. 12-13.
