Rule of thumb

If the car is still under warranty, better followi instruction in the user manual and have engine oil changed at dealer.
If the car's warranty already expired, and if engine oil used is either SAE 5-30 (winter) or SAE 10 -30, then rule of thumb is 5000 km or six months whichever comes first.
If the car makes a lot of short trips (i.e. seldom drive on highway, or over 30 km per trip), then the engine oil gets dirty quicker.
LZ can ask garage mechanic whether the engine oil being changed is (very) dirty or not.
