Cost of police reports, record checks to rise Jan. 1

It’s about to get more expensive to get routine police reports and criminal record checks. The Ottawa Police Service is hiking the fees as of Jan. 1 as set out in the force’s 2013 budget. While some costs will climb by only a dollar, requests from non-Ottawa residents will rise to $52 in 2013, a 44-per-cent increase from the old $36 cost.
