Heritage designation recommended for Briarcliffe

Briarcliffe is “a special place” in the city and deserves heritage protection, say city staff. The neighbourhood in Rothwell Heights on the city’s east side was developed starting in 1959, and studies have looked into creating a heritage conservation district after one was requested in September 2010. Residents saw the designation under the Ontario Heritage Act as a way to protect the neighbourhood’s character.
