Earthquakes Canada confirms quake centred near Ottawa

People in eastern Ontario and southwestern Quebec felt the ground shake Friday morning, after an earthquake struck near the nation's capital.
Shortly after 9:45 a.m. Friday, Earthquakes Canada reported a 4.8 magnitude quake centred in Braeside, Ont., west of Ottawa.
After a 4.2 magnitude aftershock was reported less than minutes later, Earthquakes Canada issued its revised report, and placedg the epicentre of the original quake across the Ottawa River in Shawville, Quebec.
The temblor measured 5.1 on the Richter scale.
Before the quake was officially confirmed, however, Twitter erupted with reports of shaking in Ottawa and as far away as Toronto.
