METRO/ SEAN MCKIBBON An Ottawa police cruiser is seen with it's lights flashing in this file photo.
A rash of gun violence hit Ottawa Thursday and Friday as three shootings in opposite ends of the city saw suspects slip by police.
Early Friday around 1:30 a.m., a man was shot twice in the arm on Friel Street in Sandy Hill while walking with a friend. Police say they are looking for an Asian male.
The victim, who police charged with a number of drug offences, remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police wrote in a release.
A second shooting hit hit the west end of the city Friday morning when a woman on Ritchie Street, where a young Ottawa rapper was gunned down mid-May, heard a loud in her row housing unit at 4:30 a.m.
Police said the woman thought something had fallen and did not investigate or call police until later in the morning when she she found a hole in her front window.
Once cops were on the scene, “they followed the trajectory of the hole and found a bullet lodged in an adjacent wall,” police wrote in a release.
Both shootings came less than 12 hours after police scoured the streets near Bayshore Shopping Centre after receiving calls about shots fired. A black vehicle, possibly a Mercedes, was seen speeding away at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 13.
Witnesses said they saw the vehicle slow down and that a man got out and ran away.
The police guns and gangs unit is investigating all three shootings, and believe none of them are unrelated.
They ask witnesses with to come forward by calling 613-236-1222 ext. 5050, or, call Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477.
