Dedicated bike lanes on Laurier Avenue downtown have been so successful they should be made permanent, a report going to city council’s transportation committee next week says. The two-year pilot project there began in July 2011, in an attempt to see whether cyclists would be drawn to lanes “segregated” from other traffic and whether motorists and pedestrians could cope with new turning and parking rules needed to make them work.
