I will buy a new car recently. It was said that I shouldn't drive it on highway in "磨合期". How long will "磨合期" be? What's the speed limits?
Thanks.

车速不应该超过80K/H,不能突然加速,也就是说保持发动机转速在3000转以内,磨合期应该是第一个5000公里。不知道说的对不对,大家补充!

看你的随车手册,上面讲得很清楚

What car you are driving? Some cars don't need run in.Usually, within 100km/hr and the first 3000kilo.

一般是1600公里,小心点的话也可算3000公里

I seldom see a Chinese guy driving a Jeep Liberty.
Well. Sometime we need to do something different.

Oh, you are the one who's asking which car to purchase, right? Why you finally settle for a Jeep?

I did test drive several SUV, such as Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV-4, Nissan XTerra, Ford Escape and Jeep Liberty. Also, I tried Mishibisi Lancer, Acura EL and Beetle in small car category (I don't like Corrola or Civic). Besides, I looked at KIA Sorento, Hyunda Santa Fe and Mazda Tribute. I am glad to share my experience. But the following is just my personal opinion.
1. Honda CR-V is good. But it is expensive with all option I want, and is more expensive with 5.8% financing.
2. Toyota RAV-4 is not good. It is more like a car, not a SUV. When I did right turn, it cut into the left line. That shouldn't happen for a SUV. The financing rate is high.
3. Nissan XTerra is too big and too gas consuming. It seams to be a truck when I tried it. It is expensive as well.
4. Ford Escape is good. But when I tried a 2002 pre-owned one, there was a very clear "jump" when it changed gear. Also, they don't have the color I want this year.
5. KIA Sorento is too big and too expensive. This year they don't have small model that they used to have last year.
6. The price for Hyunda Santa Fe is better than Jeep, but it asked for 4.8% financing. Besides, I am not relied on its quality.
7. Mazda Tribute is expensive. As a Ford dealer told me, Mazda and Ford shared plants. They use the same engine and parts. But Mazda just ask for high price.
8. Acura EL is the entry level of Acura. It didn't give me the feeling of luxery even it is more expensive than other cars in the same category.
9. I tried a used Beetle. It is cute and space for driver is big enough. But the space of trunk is so limited. Also, it is not easy to do shoulder check especially when somebody else sits beside.
10. Mishibisi Lancer is good and economical. This is the first year for it in Canada, and the second year in US. I would prefer it to Civic, Corola or Acura EL if I decide to buy a small car. Financing rate for 48 month is 0% right now. There are many colors you can choice from, such as Yellow and Red. The problems for Lancer are, first, it is new, so not many people can share their experiences, especial experiences of used car. Second, there are not many dealers around. In Ottawa, there are only two Mishibisi dealers.

Now, it comes to Jeep. Actually even I have signed the contract, I am still worry about its maintenance. But Jeep has many good things.
1. It is V6. Generally speaking, Americian cars with V6 are more reliable than those with V4.
2. It is FWD instead of AWD.
3. Its steering is so good. It is so easy to park or drive in area with limited space. For example, I did a left turn in a downtown gas station without any trouble. That left turn may put Accord (I drive now) into trouble.
4.Its size is perfect for me.
5.Chrysler offers 0% financing and 0 downpayment now. That will make huge different on the payment.
6.PT warranty is 7 years, which is the longest as far as I know.
7.They have the color I want, and I like Liberty's style
8.The insurance is not higher than other cars.
Hopefully I have made a good choice. :)

Tracy, are you happy with your Liberty's gas efficiency? And, what is PT warranty?

I just signed the contract and haven't got the car yet. Jeep's gas consuming should be much better than Nissan Pathfinder, definitely. :)
PT means powertrain and transmission.

I got a new 2003 Honda CR-V last month. It is EX,5 speed. I checked the price on website for many kinds of SUV when I chose models. But I think Jeep Liberty (V6-3.7L) is more expensive then CR-V EX. At that time I just focused on 4x4, maybe 4x2 is cheaper, but I think that price should be similar to CR-V. What is more, what option do you need? I think CR-V EX includes everything except moonroof, leather chairs and hard spare tire cover.

The styles of Liberty and CR-V are totally different, maybe you perfer that style. I noticed the gas efficiency, Nissan XTerra(3.3L) 5-speed is about 14L, maybe Liberty(3.7L) consumes more, I just guess. Anyway, your finance rate and warranty are pretty good. Enjoy your new SUV!!!
