West end shooting and assaults not linked, police find

Ottawa police are now treating a shooting in the Ritchie Street area early Saturday morning and a subsequent assault as separate incidents. A statement released Sunday had linked the shooting, in which a group of suspects allegedly opened fire in the city’s west end, with a physical attack on two victims, who were not shot but who were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries.
