WASHINGTON, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Canada's Sierra Wireless Inc. (SWIR) on Tuesday filed a shelf registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for 4 million common shares.
The Richmond, British Columbia-based maker of wireless modems said it plans to sell up 3,842,222 common shares and holders may sell the remaining 157,778 shares.
The company said it plans to use the proceeds from the shelf offering for product development, working capital and general corporate purposes.
Under a shelf registration, a company may sell securities in one or more separate offerings with the size, price and terms to be determined at the time of sale. ($1=C$1.33)
