愚蠢问题：不要保险行不？

各位大虾：

我在去年冬天开车出了一次事故，没有任何人受伤，只是我的车体有些毁坏，然后自己花了不少银子进行了维修（Third Part）。当时由于“规矩”不清楚，有点晕，所以向我的保险公司Claim了。下个月我的保险合同到期，重Renew的协议上看，我的保险费用将要double去年的费用。

我是一名学生，不知道如何办？麻烦各位推荐其他保险公司，或者干脆取消原来合同，偷偷开车，不知是否合适？

请求多多指点！

I think you will face criminal charge if you drive without insurnace and as you are a student, you could then be deported.

If you don't want to pay the insurance, you can take bus or bike or car pool with others, there are many other ways to live without driving. But never risk driving without insurance.

YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR LIFE IN THE RISKY. ONCE YOU ARE CAUGHT WITHOUT INSURANCE. YOU WILL BE PUT INTO JAIL AND HIGH FINE. THIS WILL BE A CRINIMAL RECORD WHICH WILL AFFECT YOUR STUDENT/IMMIGRANT STATUS.

You can try another insurance company, but you have to notify your company that you won't renew your policy when it expires. As far as I know, TD Meloche Monnex has group insurance for students.Tel: 1-800-268-8955

我也是觉得没必要， 太危险， 但我想说的是好象也没有那么严重，因为我碰到过这种情况，我朋友的车保险过期，就拿过期的给警察看，警察说保险过期，要给我们开罚单（当时我们被截的原因是超速）当时警察就说今天就放过我们，只给我们开个‘没有出示有效保险单’的TICKET（70块），可没有给我们超速的罚单。

and in New Hampshire, USA, the law doesn't require people to have insurance to go on the road.

What I want to say here is -- it's not that big deal driving without insurance, take your own risk though. Most people live without Life Insurance, and many home owners sleep without property insurance...

This is a free country, on a free continent!

All you guys can do is just to scare a young innocent student!

不出事都好说，一旦出事就麻烦了，可能倾家荡产的，而且可能进这里的局子。

Auto insurance is required by law here in Ontario. You get punished if you break a law in a "free" country.

Auto Insurance is a must, because you will cause other's death, while life insurance is optional. All the regulations are in law.

DON'T CHALLENGE THE LAW HERE. THIS IS NOT CHINA.

我感觉这里所谓的“Free”其实是外松内紧。比如，你一申请信用卡，从你来加拿大之后的所有一切，信用卡公司都知道得一清二楚。我感觉这里对人的控制和追踪其实比国内严，背景调查的水平和效率都比在中国高。

Auto insurance is required by law here in Ontario. You get punished if you break a law in a "free" country.
