7-11 的手机是锁的。 如果你要改用别的比如bell，甚至fido， 你需要unlock。
7-11 的信号挺好， 因为它就是用的rogers网络。比wind, mibiliycity的覆盖率和穿透率强多了。
7-11 是迄今为止我用过的最好的pre-pay的服务了。 $25管一年。 几乎找不到别的能beat它的了。

Mind u: I don't like 7-11 anymore, their new data plan $10/100m really sucks.

Sorry I wasn't clear! The whole sentence is "Similar to last year's sales, just +$10(from last year) but added 100 min. to be used within 1 year." I mean - last year Rogers promotion was identical except:
- was $75+911 fee last year, and
- no 100min.(to be used within 1 year) last year.

With above info., u ~could expect similar sales from Rogers next year ~Sept-Oct.

加拿大所有手机应该都是锁的, except Nexus4 (not 100% sure)。 Apparently ALL Nexus4 were sold unlock. I believe 你能带 Nexus4 回中国用。 Anyone has better knowledge, please reconfirm.

In order to use cellphone with different carrier(Bell/Fido/...)(if the phone has the proper frequency, e.g. GSM 1900), u need to UNLOCK cellphone. Different phones unlock differently, mostly only need a special code which u can buy from web($x-$20/30). Once in a while someone give free code on web, or some celllphone manufacturers' products are easier to unlock/crack than others. Anyway, do google FREE UNLOCK your mobile model# before buying unlock code. iPhone is exception, better pay original carrier $50 to unlock, I don't understand details.

A friend of mine was with Telus, just changed over to Rogers, his old Nexus 4 works the same.

Oct. 16 corrections/additions:
1. all iPhones from Apple stores are carrier specific, all locked. Unlocked iPhones could be purchased from web.
2. For Android phones - Opera mini is suggested for less data throughput
