Ottawa – Beginning on Monday, October 28 there will be additional temporarily intersection closures along Sussex Drive as part of ongoing construction activity related to sewer and watermain replacement.
St. Andrew Street at Sussex Drive will be closed from Monday, October 28 to Monday, November 18. On-street parking on the south side of St. Andrew Street will be removed during this time. Vehicles travelling westbound on St. Andrew Street will not be able to enter Sussex during the closure.
Guigues Avenue at Sussex Drive will be closed from Monday, November 4 to Monday, November 25. Guigues Avenue, from Parent Street to Sussex Drive, will be temporarily converted to a two-way street. On-street parking on the south side of Guigues Avenue will be removed during this time. Vehicles travelling westbound on Guigues Avenue will not be able to enter Sussex during the closure.
This work is the continuation of the Sussex Drive Reconstruction Project that began earlier this month. This $36 million renewal project will see new water and sewer infrastructure, improved pedestrian, cycling and transit facilities, new lighting and signage. The work will continue until mid-December, with construction resuming in the spring of 2014.
The work being done on Sussex Avenue, also known as Confederation Boulevard, is an Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water and sewer projects, to build a better city and create jobs.
