Ottawa – The City of Ottawa will recognize Transgender (Trans) Day of Remembrance (November 20) with a series of flag raising ceremonies being held on Tuesday, November 19.
The City will be holding flag raising ceremonies at the following locations on Tuesday, November 19.

735 Industrial Avenue
9:00 a.m.
Ottawa Paramedics Service headquarters
2465 Don Reid Drive
10:30 a.m.
Ottawa Fire Services headquarters
1445 Carling Avenue
1:00 p.m.
City Hall
110 Laurier Avenue
2:00 p.m.
Ottawa Police Service
474 Elgin Street
3:30 p.m.
There will also be a candlelight vigil on Wednesday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Canadian Human Rights monument, located at Elgin Street and Lisgar Street in Ottawa.
The Transgender Day of Remembrance was established to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-trans hatred or prejudice. Events are held internationally to honour Trans people who have died through violence.
