Ottawa – The next “Meet Your City Services” event will be at the Nepean Sportsplex and will showcase City services available to older adults.
Date: Thursday, December 5, 2013
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Location: Nepean Sportsplex (Hall A), 1701 Woodroffe Avenue
Service enhancements include:
In addition to a variety of workshops and display booths featuring municipal services, the newly updated Volunteer Portal will be profiled. This portal features an easy-to-use search function that offers a comprehensive list of the City’s volunteer opportunities in a centralized location. Residents will be able to search for volunteer positions with the City based on their personal criteria. They will also have the ability to apply for volunteer positions online, and take online training if required.
The City’s efforts have also been recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO). As a result of the collaborative commitment and planning efforts of the City and the Council on Aging of Ottawa, the World Health Organization (WHO) recently designated Ottawa as a member of its Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities.
