A large language school in Ottawa and Gatineau closed abruptly because it couldn’t afford to both compete for government contracts and pay teachers an appropriate wage, its owner says. L’Estrie Language School had operated campuses locally since the early 1990s, often providing lessons to public servants who needed to meet federal government bilingualism requirements, but teachers reported that it had shut down toward the end of last week.
