The question is why his unemployed wife did not join him in Seattle ? Look like their daughter is already working. Do they want the Canadian citizenship as backup? I also saw a few examples in the neighborhood and realized the backup plan (Canadian, Chinese or USA) is actually eroding the quality of life.
Just a side topic, I knew a few government employees went further to quit their government job once reached 50 years old and started part time/seasonal work. They mentioned that Age 50 is the only lifetime opportunity to unlock government pension money and the arrangement is part of their transition plan. Now the qualification age of pension is 67 years old, it might be even extended to 69 years old in near future. If a person enjoy working until age 70, that is fine. But according to newspaper, most Canadians would like to retire in the age of 55-59 and enjoy golden years ahead.
