Students at Algonquin College were evacuated and firefighters reported receiving many smell-related calls as the energy company Enbridge vented natural gas to prepare a new pipeline on Thursday. Enbridge Gas Distribution reported that it would be venting natural gas Thursday and that some people “may notice the smell of rotten eggs or hear a loud sound as natural gas is released in a safe and controlled manner.”
