Thanks for reply with all the detailed information. I just got 3 female and 2 male little guppies today from kijiji. I used to buy fishes from pet store and keep dieing.

Yes, I kept the clean water for over 1 week with conditioner added and bacteria added before put new fish.
temperature is around 23 degree. Hopefully this time I can get success.

5G tank is not very big, but for 5 to 10 guppies should be fine.
1. If your tank is first time to fill water in, you need at least one day to add fishes in.
2. Every week you need to changes at least 25% to 40% water, add water condition to the new water before fill the water in. You should check the amount you need to add. You can find the amount from the water condition container instruction.
3. Do not feed too much, they would not die if you only feed once per day. The amount should be they can eat all of them before they sink to the bottom.

Also where did you get your fishes? From pet store, sure they may die after a few day....

鱼缸放哪随便你，不影响。

一个星期的水足够了，我是加两滴water conditioner到水桶里面，沉一到两天就用，但是我加的时候一次加半桶。

啊？！ 你Water conditioner 才加两滴？说明上说10ml per 10gallon. 你半桶，也得加个半勺（5ml)左右吧？

1。决不要多喂。鱼不会饿死。
2。换水时最多1/3。
3。水放2天以上就不需要 water condition

因为还要沉两天，所以两滴足够了。我十几刀买的water conditioner用了三年还剩半瓶呢。

养鱼这个东西互相学习很重要，我看到会养的经常请教，在我手上牺牲的鱼约一千多条吧，惭愧，anyway，最后达到现在的水平，零死亡了。

我的孔雀鱼，从4 条开始，养了多年 不断的繁殖， 现在有上百条 如需要 可免费送 ， 不过品种退化的很厉害，适合最初的养鱼者。

As I can see the water is main issue for fishes, when I was on vacation, 20 days, no water change, no food, my fishes are fine. Water still is very clear. Of course, you have to have good filter and plants to keep water clear and have food ( plants ) for them to eat.

In Ottawa, some area pH value is very high, like my area, it is over 8.X. It is not good for some fishes. Like discus, crystal red shrimp, ... they may die. If you want, you can spend more money to set up a good water filter system. I saw one guy he set up a almost automatic system ( over $3000 he told me) , if you are interested, please check

The tank is on first floor, the pipe links the tank and water filter to basement. Whole system is running automatically! He has microscope to check water daily and has data log to monitor water condition....! He has powered timer plant food dose system to add six plant food hourly. N!!
