Survivor Benefit

In the event of your death, your eligible survivor will be entitled to a monthly allowance equal to half of the pension benefit you would have received before age 65 (calculated before any applicable reduction).

The survivor benefit is payable immediately, regardless of whether you die during employment or retirement. It is fully indexation an annual basis for the rest of your survivor's life. For information on indexation, please refer to the Protection from Inflation section.
 
Child Allowance
In the event of your death, each child will be entitled to 1/5 of the survivor benefit (2/5 if you have no eligible survivor), payable until he/she reaches age 18 (age 25, if the child is a student and meets the eligibility criteria of a child).
 
Minimum Benefit
You, your eligible survivor and children, or your estate or succession cannot receive, in total, less than the amount of your public service pension plan contributions over the years.

Family assistance benefits up to a combined maximum of $2,500 for any one travel emergency, as follows:
  • The maximum payable for dependant children under age 16 who are left unattended because the participant or the participant's covered spouse is hospitalised and an escort (if necessary) is the cost of economy airfare for return transportation.
  • Return transportation if a family member is hospitalised and as a result the family members are unable to return home on the originally scheduled flight, and must purchase new return tickets. The extra cost of the return airfare is payable, to a maximum of the cost of economy airfare.
 
Repatriation
Return of the deceased in the event of death of a family member. The necessary authorisations will be obtained and arrangements made for the return of the deceased to the province/territory of residence. The maximum payable for the preparation and return of the deceased is $3,000.
 
everything is great except you have to make yourself sit there counting the minutes of leaving... really? is it a life meant to be? the ultimate destiny for a living soul?

看你这么辛苦, 我支持你一把。
严格地说, 如果刘越真的是政府工,就不能说他没保险。政府保的2倍税前年工资就是保险。私企一般也有这项的,我亲身经历的还是税前工资的3倍。

虽 说是有几个同事邻居朋友来帮忙,可是方方面面要联络和处理的事情太多了。先是要把遗体接回来,领事馆的信件上写着要寄一万多加元费用去古巴。加上这里的丧 葬费用,一下子要应付两三万的开支。没有买旅游保险,平时也没有准备任何人身保险/按揭保险的事,只有工作单位给员工买的基本保险可用,简直是杯水车薪。

咱中国有句老话,救急不救穷,实在是太意外了,一点准备都没有,热心的朋友,失事的家庭需要你的帮助。

死者安息,生者坚强,生活还要继续。都在政府工作,无论现在还是将来生活都是有保障的,反而死者在北京的父母是最令人同情的。但愿加拿大华人社区的捐助能帮到死者在北京的父母。
刘越夫妻,两口子都是联邦政府的,CRA的。当然有保险。
