Ottawa –The City of Ottawa’s Commemorative Naming Committee is conducting public consultations on a proposal to name a hockey dressing room in the Stuart Holmes Arena at 5660 Osgoode Main Street “Diesel’s Dressing Room”.

Diesel’s Dressing Room – (Osgoode – 20)

In recognition of Andrew (Diesel) Winnicki’s community service, the City of Ottawa has been asked to name a hockey dressing room in the Stuart Holmes Arena at 5660 Osgoode Main Street “Diesel’s Dressing Room”.

Andrew died tragically in a hunting accident at the young age of 22. By this time, he had already been a volunteer hockey coach for three years coaching a Peewee division team in the Osgoode Minor Hockey League.

Andrew also faithfully dedicated time every year to help build an outdoor rink in his community and then spent hours there with neighbourhood children, skating with them and sharing his skills.

He loved sports, and knew that sports were good for children to meet new friends, learn social skills, peak interest and most of all have fun.
